Frequently asked questions

FTTC stands for Fibre to the Cabinet and is the combination of copper and fibre optic cabling. The fibre optic cable is run directly to a roadside cabinet from the telephone exchange with the copper cable then providing the broadband connectivity.

FTTC comes in a range of variations and not everyone is able to get the same speed. It is highly dependent on your location and distance from the cabinet. Upstream speeds vary from 10Mbps to 50 Mbps with downstream connections being between 80-330Mbps, 55Mbps or 40Mbps.

Simply – Yes you can! Your existing copper line will be used to generate the new connection. From the cabinet the provider will then use the Fibre to the Cabinet to link to the exchange.
