The Problem

Fenton Elliott was tied into a long-term contract with a legacy telecommunications provider and was experiencing ongoing issues with call handling, mobile working and system reliability.

For a busy legal practice, client communication is critical. However, the firm’s existing phone system was creating frustration for staff and making everyday tasks more time-consuming.

The team experienced issues with call transfers, forwarding and multi-device pickup, which sometimes resulted in dropped calls. The mobile app was unreliable, meaning staff were often unable to make and receive calls effectively while working away from their desks.

Bluetooth headset connectivity was also causing disruption, and the phone system operated separately from Clio, the firm’s legal practice management software. This meant calls had to be logged manually, adding unnecessary administration and reducing productivity.

Our Solution

IBT worked closely with Fenton Elliott to design and implement a fully integrated 3CX cloud communications solution tailored to the needs of a modern legal practice.

The new solution combined Yealink T85W desk phones with 3CX softphones, enabling users to work seamlessly from the office, home or on the move.

IBT integrated the phone system with Clio, allowing calls to be logged automatically against client records. This improved visibility, reduced manual administration and helped streamline case management.

AI-powered call transcription was also introduced to support more efficient record keeping, while Outlook contacts and calendars were synchronised to create a more unified communications experience.

IBT also resolved the firm’s Bluetooth headset connectivity issues, ensuring staff could use their Jabra headsets reliably across desk phones and softphone applications.

As part of the project, IBT supported Fenton Elliott with contract transition and migration planning, helping the firm move away from their previous provider with minimal disruption.

The integration with Clio has significantly reduced manual call logging, giving the team better visibility of client communications and freeing up valuable time for fee earners.

Staff can now make and receive business calls from desk phones, laptops and mobile devices, supporting flexible working without compromising professionalism or reliability.

With dedicated account management and ongoing support from IBT, Fenton Elliott has a cloud communications platform that is easier to manage, more reliable and better aligned with the needs of a modern legal practice.
